OUR WELDING CAPABILITIES

Built for the jobs nobody else wants to take on.

Most welding shops handle small parts. Sierra Machinery & Engineering built its welding and fabrication operation in Reno, NV around the jobs nobody else wants to take on, the large structural parts, the complex assemblies, and the industrial components that demand a shop with the floor space, the equipment, and the experience to do them right. From our facility in Sparks, Nevada, we have been doing exactly that since 1979.

All three welding processes are performed in house at 1651 Glendale Avenue by our certified welding team. No subcontracting. No sending work out the door. When a project calls for both welding and precision machining, our CNC machining and precision manufacturing team works from the same building, so nothing has to leave our shop to get finished.

Dual Shield Welding

Flux cored arc welding with external shielding gas for high deposition rates and strong welds on structural and heavy industrial work.

MIG Welding

Fast, clean, and reliable for production runs and general fabrication across a wide range of materials and part sizes.

πŸ”₯

TIG Welding

Precision welding for applications that demand tight control, clean beads, and exact results on critical components.

Welding expertise built on the shop floor.

Welding expertise is not something you learn in a classroom. Derrick H., our Machine Building Supervisor, is a certified welder with 14 years of hands-on fabrication experience. He and his team build the structural components that go into every Sierra Machinery machine that ships from our facility, including the frames and assemblies behind our Skiving and Roller Burnishing machines. That background is what separates our metal fabrication shop in Reno, NV from a general welding operation.

Our welders understand precision manufacturing from the inside out because they do it every day. Our welding capabilities are backed by the same full Quality Management System and CMM Lab that supports every other process in our facility, including our tooling and mold making department. Every weld, every assembly, and every fabricated component is held to the same standard.

When a customer brings us a complex fabrication job, our team works through the full scope from the first conversation. If a part needs welding and machining, both happen under one roof with one point of contact from start to finish.

Not a standalone welding shop.

Sierra Machinery & Engineering is not a standalone welding and fabrication shop in Reno, NV. Our welding capabilities are part of a full precision manufacturing operation that has been running since 1979, alongside our SRB tooling and machining lines. That history matters when a customer brings us a structural component or a hydraulic industry part that has to be right.

Our safety record backs that up. Zero lost time since 2012 across the entire facility reflects the discipline and attention to detail that runs through every department. A team that works safely works precisely. Our 90% client retention rate across the hydraulic and general industrial markets is the clearest measure of what our welding and fabrication operation produces. Customers come back because the work is right the first time.

In 2026, our team will be at Design 2 Part Denver, IMTS, and Fabtech, where serious buyers evaluate serious shops.

FAQs

FAQs About Welding & Fabrication

What welding processes do you offer?

We perform Dual Shield, MIG, and TIG welding, all in house at our Sparks, NV facility. Each process is suited to different jobs, from high-deposition structural welds to precision work on critical components.

Do you handle large structural welding and fabrication jobs?

Yes, that’s actually our specialty. We built our welding and fabrication capabilities specifically for large structural parts and complex assemblies that most shops don’t have the floor space or equipment to take on.

Is your welding team certified?

Yes. Our Machine Building Supervisor, Derrick H., is a certified welder with 14 years of hands-on fabrication experience, and our full welding team works to the same certified standard.

Can you combine welding with machining on the same project?

Yes. If a part needs both welding and CNC machining, our team handles both under one roof with a single point of contact, so nothing has to be sent out to another shop.

Do you subcontract any of your welding work?

No. All welding and fabrication work is done in house by our own certified team. Nothing goes out the door to a third party.

What quality checks do fabricated parts go through before shipping?

Every fabricated component is measured, inspected, and verified through our full Quality Management System and CMM Lab before it ships, the same standard we apply to every other process in our facility.
